Holiroots Basics
All the Basics About Organic, Nutri-Score & Ingredients
What does “Organic” mean?
Organic stands for food produced according to the regulations of the EU Organic Regulation Specifically, this means:
✔️ No genetic engineering
✔️ No chemical-synthetic pesticides or fertilizers
✔️ Protection of soil, water & biodiversity
For you, organic at Holiroots means: higher quality, more naturalness, and a better feeling when snacking.

What does the Nutri-Score mean?
The Nutri-Score is a voluntary labeling system on the front of many foods. It assesses the nutritional quality from A (very good) to E (less good) – based on sugar, salt, fat, protein, and fiber.
We use the Nutri-Score so you can see at a glance how balanced our product is.
Important: Please still take a look at the ingredient list to get a complete picture.
💡 Fun Fact: Our Holiroots crackers achieve a particularly good Nutri-Score — thanks to fresh vegetables, less fat, and absolutely no sugar! 😋
What does “Fresh Vegetable Content” mean?
Simply put: Our crackers contain real, fresh vegetables – not just powders, concentrates, or extracts.
This ensures:
✨ better taste
✨ natural color
✨ more nutrients
✨ a snack that truly counts

Rescued Vegetables & Sustainability
Why We Rescue Vegetables &
How Much Is In It
What does “Rescued Vegetables” mean?
Rescued vegetables are fresh, perfectly good vegetables that would not end up in stores due to shape, size, overproduction, or sidestreams .
Holiroots buys these vegetables directly from farmers (not for free, of course!) and thereby helps to:
💚 reduce food waste
💚 support farmers sustainably
Are all Holiroots products made from rescued vegetables?
No, currently our products contain a mix of rescued and regular organic vegetables. Why? Because we can never precisely plan when & how many rescued vegetables are available. As a startup, we still have limited resources and our supply chain is expanding.
➡️ But: We rescue what we can – and are continuously working to rescue even more vegetables. 🌱
How much rescued vegetables are in Holiroots crackers?
Currently, about 50% of the vegetables we use are rescued vegetables.
And yes: We are actively working to further increase this proportion! 💪

Origin & Production
Where Our Ingredients Come From & Where We Produce
Where do our ingredients come from?
Our vegetables come from Belgium and other EU countries.
This keeps transport routes short and supports European farmers. 🇪🇺
Where are Holiroots products manufactured?
Our crackers are produced in Liège, Belgium – only about 20 minutes from Aachen .
Regional, local & efficient! 💚

Product Info & Quality
All About Appearance, Ingredients & Product Features
I see white spots on my cracker – is that normal?
Yes, absolutely!
The white spots are merely flour residue that prevents the crackers from sticking together.
We try to keep this to a minimum – but sometimes a little flour sneaks past our Holi eyes. 😉
Are Holiroots products vegan?
Our crackers consist ofu 100% aus pflanzlichen Zutaten.
BUT:
We do not label them as vegan because they are produced in a facility that also processes products containing eggs, milk, or other animal ingredients.
➡️ Therefore, traces may be present. Transparency is important to us! ✅
What’s in Holi Crackers?
Our Holi Crackers are made from simple, honest ingredients – no frills. The most important part:
All ingredients are organic-certified, purely plant-based, and naturally palm oil-free. We ensure that each variety has its own unique character – sometimes spicy, sometimes mild, sometimes earthy-sweet.
